MSN Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Admissions Criteria

• Applicants seeking admission into the graduate adult acute care nurse practitioner track must be willing to complete the clinical practicum rotations in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Connecticut, Rhode Island, or Maryland. Prior to starting clinical rotations, students must provide license verification for the appropriate state in which they will complete their clinical rotations. Please note all submitted materials become the property of Drexel University.
• A baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing from a National League of Nursing–accredited program. A GPA 3.0 or above on all previous coursework or 3.25 or above on the last 60 credits of the BSN required. If overall GPA is below 3.0, GRE is required. Applications from RNs who hold a non-nursing baccalaureate degree are considered on an individual basis.
• Official transcripts from all universities or colleges and other post-secondary educational institutions (including trade schools) attended. Instead of hard copy transcripts, you may supply official electronic transcripts issued by a post-secondary institution directly to Drexel University Online (use our email address, customerservice@drexel.com ).   You must supply transcripts regardless of the number of credits earned or the type of school you attended.  If you do not list all post-secondary institutions on your application and these are listed on transcripts received from other institutions, processing of your application will be delayed until you have submitted the remaining transcripts. • A copy of your current, unrestricted United States RN license or eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse. License verification from your nursing license registry website are acceptable.
• Resume (Note: Resume should be detailed regarding work experience, including specific job experiences, responsibilities, and departments).
• Two professional letters of recommendation.  Drexel University Online now accepts electronic letters of recommendation.  Please access the following webpage for instructions regarding their submission: http://www.drexel.edu/apply/recommend.  If a recommender prefers to submit an original, hard copy letter of recommendation, please remind the recommender that it must be signed and submitted in a sealed envelope signed across the flap by the recommender.
• Personal statement (800 to 1,600 words) that will give the admissions committee a better understanding of:
  • Why you are choosing this particular program of study,
  •  Your plans upon completion of the graduate degree, and 
  • How your current work experience will enhance your experience in this M.S.N. program.
• While no work experience is required for applicants to the women’s health nurse practitioner track, previous related work experience may make an applicant more competitive.

• This NP program does not offer rolling admissions. Admissions decisions will be mailed six to eight weeks after the application deadline.
